Why Wait for Basement Waterproofing?

I confess, the title has a not-so-hidden double meaning.

The obvious reason you shouldn't wait to fix a water problem is to protect your home. The longer moisture stays in a basement or crawl space the more damage it can do to the structure, possibly even to your health.

The less obvious meaning has to do with how busy a basement waterproofing contractor is after a big rain. If there is a lot of rainfall, many people have water problems below their home. Contractors with a good reputation for their work and their business practices will be flooded (no pun intended) with calls and quickly have appointments booked out weeks or maybe even months. A fly-by-night contractor or one who has a bad reputation will be sitting in his office staring at the phone, so of course he can be right out! Basement Systems recently posted about what it means if a basement waterproofing contractor isn't busy after a big rain.

The short story is simple: if there's a water problem, have the most qualified and resourceful contractor out to help you. It's worth waiting the extra time when, years later, people with quick fixes are looking around for someone to fix their water problem again and you’re still dry!
